| Some herds will in addition to the above vaccination schedule need to consider giving J-5, E-Coli, and Leptospirosis. Check with your veterinarian or Dr. Skillman at (916) 359-1380, as to the dose and necessity of these vaccines. Coccidia Treatment/Prevention Dosage: Coccidia treatment and frequent worming of your goats may not be required. The only way to be certain of your individual animals requirements is to have a fecal exam performed on each animal. A fecal exam can be performed by most veterinarian offices for a small fee. We have found it is easiest to collect a small amount of feces first thing in the morning. You will need a small zippered plastic bag for each goat; follow behind and collect fresh feces (placing approximately 3 tablespoons per goat,) in the plastic bag. Label the bag by placing the animals name and the date of the specimen, and continue this process for every animal. Take this to your veterinarian and request a coccidia and parasite screening. Note: if you do not request both, you may have to collect twice and pay for two exams. *a monthly Selenium paste can be given in place of the BoSe injection, or you can give the powdered form on a daily basis. |
