Vaccination and Maintenance Schedule

This vaccination schedule was been reviewed by Dr. Robin Skillman, D.V.M. February, 2003, and is used successfully by several breeders in the Northern California Area. Please be sure to check with your own veterinarian for their recommendations and approval. This form is not intended to replace any instructions or individual plans outlined by your local treating veterinarian. At all times check the package instructions for all products for dosages and proper storage.

Medication BoSe Tetanus antitoxin SQ or IM DiMethox 40%   by mouth at the rate of  .08 per lb day 1, .04ml per lb day 2-14 Worm w Panacur/Safeguard paste, repeat in 7-21 days as needed CD&T or Covexin 8 BoSe DiMethox 40%    by mouth at the rate of .08 per lb day 1, .04ml per lb day 2-14 2nd CD&T or Covexin 8 Rabies - must be given by your veterinarian Worm w Ivomec SQ or Pour on/Valbazen/Tramisol/ Safeguard/Panacur as needed by fecal exam DiMethox 40%    by mouth at the rate of  .08 per lb day 1, .04ml per lb day 2-14 3rd CD&T or Covexin 8 4th CD&T or Covexin 8 Worm with wormer of your choice Rabies - must be given by your veterinarian

Some herds will in addition to the above vaccination schedule need to consider giving J-5, E-Coli, and Leptospirosis. Check with your veterinarian or Dr. Skillman at (916) 359-1380, as to the dose and necessity of these vaccines. Coccidia Treatment/Prevention Dosage: Coccidia treatment and frequent worming of your goats may not be required. The only way to be certain of your individual animals requirements is to have a fecal exam performed on each animal. A fecal exam can be performed by most veterinarian offices for a small fee. We have found it is easiest to collect a small amount of feces first thing in the morning. You will need a small zippered plastic bag for each goat; follow behind and collect fresh feces (placing approximately 3 tablespoons per goat,) in the plastic bag. Label the bag by placing the animals name and the date of the specimen, and continue this process for every animal. Take this to your veterinarian and request a coccidia and parasite screening. Note: if you do not request both, you may have to collect twice and pay for two exams. *a monthly Selenium paste can be given in place of the BoSe injection, or you can give the powdered form on a daily basis.
